CRT Monitor

CRT monitor in a reconstructed 1990s American office cubicle

Before flat panels became ordinary, the desktop monitor was a deep, heavy object that occupied a large part of the workstation.

What this record preserves

A bulky screen, keyboard, desk footprint and the way computer equipment physically shaped the arrangement of a cubicle.

Why it matters

The computer was already central to office work, but it did not disappear into a thin portable device. The hardware had weight and depth. Screens, telephones, paper and storage competed for the same limited desk surface, giving the workstation a very different physical character from a modern laptop-based office.

Visual reconstruction. Manufacturer and exact model are not asserted.
