A wooden inn, snow outside the window, a yukata, winter heating and one dog. This archive record follows Yoshino Minase through the small routines of a stay in Shinshu and uses those routines to open a larger material world of travel in Japan around 1990.

The story is hidden in ordinary routines.
Arrival, shoes at the entrance, wooden corridors, tatami, a snow-view window, bathing, yukata, warming the room, walking the dog and packing to leave. None of these needs to be a dramatic event. Together they make the period feel inhabited.

Yoshino Minase is a fictional adult character. SNOW INN does not reconstruct one specific real ryokan. The person, dog and exact stay are visual fiction built inside a researched late-Showa / early-Heisei material world.
