Shino Hamasaki is a fictional forty-year-old veteran ama diver created for the OCS Visual Archive. Her story is set in Anori on the Shima Peninsula in 1972. The archive follows her as a working woman: preparing in the ama hut, carrying kaginomi, uki-daru and sukari, travelling by working boat, diving, surfacing with the recovery breath called isobue, and warming herself by the fire after returning from the sea.
