A character built around work

Otsune is imagined as an experienced woman in her mid-forties who already knows the routes, room functions and ordinary rhythm of service inside the inner quarters. The story does not require her to witness a famous historical incident. Her knowledge is visible in small decisions: where she walks, what she notices, which object belongs in which room and when she does not need to intervene.

The Morning Round

OCS’s first Otsune episode is designed as a WORLD-establishing morning. Household life is already moving before the viewer understands every role. Textiles, rooms, attendants, corridors, storage, light and quiet corrections reveal the institution through ordinary flow rather than exposition.

The goal is not to make Otsune the only subject. She is the viewpoint through which the surrounding WORLD becomes felt.

What is historical and what is fictional?

FACT / EVIDENCE: Edo Castle contained differentiated public, shogunal and inner residential zones; the Ooku included women’s living and service spaces; surviving plans and records document female attendants and administrative structure.

RECONSTRUCTION: the exact room surfaces, route, object placement, clothing details and work sequence are rebuilt from period evidence and carefully bounded later evidence.

FICTION: Otsune herself, her face, personality, private thoughts and one exact morning in 1640.

Woman → Life → World

Otsune is not a costume placed in an Edo-looking room. Character, work, objects, facilities, physical behavior, culture and evidence are built as one connected system.
